Ilse Valfré is a Mexican-born visual artist whose surreal, narrative worlds reflect on identity, femininity, and the emotional complexity of modern life. Known simply as Valfré, her multidisciplinary practice merges painting, illustration, and design to explore ideals of beauty, autonomy, and inner transformation through a distinctly stylised lens.
Raised in Playas de Tijuana, a border town where two nations meet the sea, Valfré’s work channels the tension and beauty of existing between worlds—cultural, emotional, and imaginary. Now based between Nayarit and Los Angeles, she continues to expand her visual universe across multiple mediums and disciplines.
